Firehawks Take Two from No. 12 Blue Raiders in Series

COLUMBIA, Ky. – The University of Tennessee Southern softball team split the series with #12 Lindsey Wilson after a 9-0 loss in game three and a 4-3 win in the series finale. Currently the Firehawks are the only Mid-South team to claim a pair of wins against LWC.

"I am proud or how our team came out and battled to win the even games of the series this weekend", commented Coach Brandie Paul. "Lindsey Wilson is a perennial power in NAIA softball currently adorning a #12 ranking. Our team didn't back down for the challenge both days this weekend. I felt we really focused on rising to the challenge and accomplished two huge victories."

  • The Firehawks peppered nine hits. Brady and Samantha King both had a pair of hits. Hayley Parrott, Shelby Clifton, Haley Barnes, Madi White, and Allie Toone each added a hit.
  • The Firehawks left seven runners on base.
  • UTS drew two free passes.
  • The Firehawks when down on strikes twice.
  • Brady and King went yard for the Firehawks.
  • King notched her 5th win of the season in a complete game effort. She allowed three earned runs on three hits. King fanned four Blue Raiders.

NEXT UP

UTS will travel to Montgomery, Ala. for a twin bill with Faulkner. The squads meet earlier this season in Pulaski. The Firehawks look to even the series. The first pitch is set for 2 pm.
