Pulaski, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee Southern softball team took the series with Thomas More 3-1. In game three the Saints would pile on 13 runs to win 13-2, but in game four UTS would rebuke the Saints 7-1.
GAME ONE
- UTS produced eight hits. Shelby Clifton and Hayley Parrott each had a pair of hits. Sydney Self, Samantha King, Bree Brady, and Haley Barnes added a hit each.
- The Firehawks went down on strikes six times.
- The Firehawks left eight runners on base.
- King and Brady each plated one run.
- Bailey Abernathy got the start. She worked two innings allowing two earned runs on two hits and walking four. Macy Ciramella took the loss falling to 0-2.
GAME TWO
- The Firehawks outhit the Saints 11 to nine. Parrott, Clifton, Brady, and Madi White led the way with two hits each. Self, Chaney Dutton, and Kayla Lawrence each had a hit.
- Parrott and Brady led the way with two RBI.
- UTS drew two free passes and struck out one time.
- The Firehawks stranded six on base.
- King threw a complete game in the winning effort. She allowed one earned run on nine hits and struck out five. King improved to 3-1 on the season.
NEXT UP
UTS will travel to Campbellsville, Ky. on March 18 and 19 for a four-game series with the Tigers. The first pitch Friday is scheduled for 1 pm.
