Firehawks Fall in Final Pair With Georgetown

Pulaski, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee Southern softball team dropped both games today to Georgetown 6-5. Game three was a 10-inning skirmish that both squads pushed five runs across before extra innings. The Tigers plated a runner in the tenth, and the Firehawks stranded their chance to tie just 60 feet away. In Game Four, both teams would pass the lead back and forth, but GC would generate the winning run in the top of the seventh.

GAME THREE

  • UTS set the grass on fire with 11 hits. Hayley Parrott led UTS with three hits including a three-bagger. Sydney Self and Chaney Dutton added a pair of hits each. Shelby Clifton, Sam King, Bree Brady, and Kaylyn Richardson each had one hit.
  • The Firehawks when down on strikes five times and drew a pair of walks.
  • The Firehawks left 11 runners on base.
  • King led the way with three RBI.
  • Kamryn Murdock pitched 5.2 innings. She allowed 3 earned runs on five hits. Savannah Sands suffered the loss falling to 3-4. Sands pitched 4.1 innings allowing only one unearned run.

GAME FOUR

  • The rain didn't cool off the UTS bats accumulating eight in game four. King and Dutton led the charge with two hits each. Parrott, Clifton, Haley Barnes, and Emily Gable all added a hit apiece.
  • UTS went down on strikes one time receiving two free passes.
  • UTS left six Firehawks on base.
  • King belted her sixth homer of the year.
  • Gable had two RBI.
  • Ana Aaron hurled four innings allowing three earned runs. Macey Ciramella suffered her first loss of the season. Cimamella threw 2.2 innings allowing three earned runs on five hits.

NEXT UP

UTS will host Thomas More for a four-game set on March 11-12. Friday the festivities will begin at 3 pm and Saturday at 1 pm.
