Firehawks Split the Series With No. 22 Patriots

Williamsburg, Ky. – The University of Tennessee Southern softball team added a 1-0 win in nine and fell 6-1 to the Patriots to earn a series split.

 GAME THREE

  • Sydney Self and Shelby Clifton supplied UTS' two hits.
  • The Firehawks when down on strikes two times.
  • The Firehawks left three runners on base.
  • Clifton's single in the ninth provided the lone RBI of the game.
  • Ana Aaron pitched a gem. She put in 8.2 innings of work walking eight and striking out two. Aaron improved to 1-2 on the season. Savannah Sands recorded the save closing out the home half of the ninth.
  • This epic pitcher dual saw UC's Talli Burgess hurl nine innings allowing one earned run on two hits.

GAME FOUR

  • Self led the way with two hits. Clifton, King, Bree Brady, and Kayla Lawrence added a hit each.
  • UTS went down on strikes one time.
  • UTS left five Firehawks on base.
  • Self drove in the lone Firehawk run.
  • King suffered the loss falling to 1-1. King allowed 5 earned runs on six hits. Sands pitched the final 1.1 allowing one earned run on two hits.  

NEXT UP

UTS will return to Royce Hughes Field on Monday to begin a four-game series with Georgetown. The first pitch will commence at 2 pm.
