Firehawks Split Day One with No. 22 Patriots

Williamsburg, Ky. – The University of Tennessee Southern softball team split day one with #22 Cumberlands today. The Pat's took game one 4-2, and UTS took game two 6-3.

GAME ONE

  • Shelby Clifton, Samantha King, Kayla Lawrence, and Kaylyn Richardson combined for UTS' four hits.
  • The Firehawks drew two free passes while striking out eight times.
  • The Firehawks left six runners on base.
  • King launched her third four-bagger of the season.
  • Kamryn Murdock dropped the decision and fell to 2-2 on the year. She gave up 4 earned runs on seven hits.
  • Savannah Sands allowed only one hit in over three innings of work.

GAME TWO

  • Bree Brady led the way with two hits. Sydney Self, Clifton, King, Hayley Parrott, Lawrence, and Allie Toone added a hit each.
  • UTS went down on strikes three times and drew three walks.
  • UTS left four ladies on base.
  • Brady drove in 2 runs, accumulating a double and a triple.
  • Sands notched the win and improved to 3-2. Sands gave up three earned on four hits. King got her first save of the year pitching 2.1 scoreless innings. King allowed only two hits.  

NEXT UP

UTS will close out their four-game set with #22 Cumberlands tomorrow at UC Softball Complex. The first pitch will commence at 11 am.
