Firehawks Tame Tigers

Pulaski, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee Southern softball team extended their win streak to three with today's pair of wins against Stillman. The Firehawks scored early and held on to win game one 1-0, and blew game two open with a six-run sixth winning 8-1.

Game One

  • Sydney Self and Shelby Clifton(2) combined for UTS' three hits.
  • UTS drew one free pass while striking out six times.
  • The Firehawks left four ladies on base.
  • Clifton had the lone RBI.
  • Kamryn Murdock pitched a gem of a game. She held the Tigers at bay allowing on one hit in her complete-game performance. She struck out three while collecting her second win of the year.

Game Two

  • UTS matched the visitors hit-for-hit for in game two. Both squads combined for 16 hits. Hayley Parrott led the way with two hits. Chaney Dutton, Self, Clifton, Kayla Lawrence, Kaylyn Richardson, and Allie Toone had one hit each.
  • Self, Clifton, Parrott, and Lawrence combined for four RBI.
  • Savannah Sands leveled her season record at 2-2 with the win. Sands pitched six innings allowing eight hits and only one earned run. She fanned five tigers.
  • Samantha King closed out the game hurling a scoreless seventh.

NEXT UP

UTS will begin Mid-South Conference play this weekend in Williamsburg, Ky. UTS will take on Cumberlands at the UC Softball Complex. The four-game series will commence on Friday with game one starting at 3 pm. The Series will come to a close on Saturday with game three starting at 11 am.
