Eagles Endure Firehawks

Pulaski, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee Southern softball team dropped their home opener on Tuesday with Faulkner. The Eagles took game one 5-1 and held on to take game two 7-4.

Game One

  • The Firehawks compiled three hits. Robbi Guthrie had two and Bree Brady had one.
  • UTS drew one walk while striking out 11 times.
  • The Firehawks left five runners on base.
  • Ana Aaron fell to 0-1 on the season. She allowed five hits and three earned runs in five innings pitched.
  • Karla Pena finished game one allowing two earned runs on three base hits.
  • Meagan Schwieterman took the win for Faulkner. She allowed one run and three hits in her complete-game performance.

Game Two

  • UTS pushed four runs across on seven hits. Madi White and Shelby Clifton both had two hits. Brady, Sydney Self, and Hayley Barnes had one hit each.
  • Clifton, Self, and Hayley Parrott had one RBI each.
  • Savannah Sands lost her second decision of the year. She gave up four runs on six hits in 3.2 innings. Macey Cirmella gave up three runs on four hits in 2.1 innings of work. Kayla Lawrence pitched a scoreless seventh walking two Eagles.
  • Katelynn Inness notched the win. She gave up four runs on seven hits in a complete-game effort.

NEXT UP

UTS will host Grace College at Royce Hughes field for a four-game series. Friday the action starts at 3 pm, and on Saturday the first pitch will be at 1 pm.
