Korir and Lincoln Lead Firehawks in Historic Race

PULASKI, Tenn. – History was made on the grounds at the University of Tennessee Southern Athletic Complex as the cross country teams hosted the 2nd annual Firehawk Invitational. This was the first collegiate cross country race ever to be held in Giles County. The Firehawks men's cross country team finished third on Friday (Sept. 2).

Freed-Hardeman paced all teams with 30 points and finished in a time of 1:29:57, while Carter Welch captured the top podium spot with a 17:13 marker.

Sophomore Titus Korir led the Firehawk effort earning a 3rd-place finish in 17:39. UTS ended the race in 1:32:33 and with 48 points.

The rest of the Tennessee Southern scorers finished taking places 4, 12, 13, and 18. Freshman JJ Lincoln landed a time of 17:52, while freshman Matthew Andrea ran an 18:48. Sophomore Raleigh Stamps crossed the line at 18:54, with sophomore Zach Shepard just twenty-five seconds behind at 19:19.
