Firehawks Closeout the Inaugural Track and Field Season Out with a Strong Performance in SSAC Championship

GULF SHORES, Ala. - The University of Tennessee Southern track and field squads competed in Southern States Athletic Conference Championship on Monday and Tuesday. The Firehawks continued to set new program marks in the squad's inaugural season.

The men's team finished eighth overall out of 12 member institutions. Jacob Sanchez earned a silver medal (All-SSAC) in the javelin with a 51.01 meter throw. Matthew Andrea earned a bronze metal (All-SSAC) in the 5000m with a time of 15:34. Titus Korir snagged a bronze metal (All-SSAC) in the 10000m in a time of 33:13. Tanner Meloon just missed All-SSAC finishing fourth in the javelin with a 48.09 meter throw. Silas Hatton finished seventh in the long jump with a 6.67 meter jump. JJ Lincoln finished fifth in the 1500m in 4:09. The men's relay team finished sixth in the 4 x 800m clocking in with a 8:12.
