Trimpe Named Head Swimming Coach

PULASKI, Tenn. - The University of Tennessee Southern and Vice Chancellor/Director of Athletics Brandie Paul officially announced the hiring of Trevor Trimpe as the next head coach of the UT Southern swimming program on Monday.

Trimpe, a native of Indiana, comes to UT Southern from his time as head swimming coach at Midland University where he coached six NAIA National Qualifiers.

"I am beyond excited for the opportunity to lead the UT Southern swimming program," remarked Trimpe. "The swim team has taken off quickly in its short three-year history, and I am hoping to continue to build the roster and help guide the athletes both in and out of the pool. I want to thank AD Brandie Paul and Chancellor Linda Martin for bringing me on board. Go Firehawks!"

Trimpe began his coaching career as an assistant at Norwich University where he coached from 2013-2017. During his time at NU, the swimming program broke a total of 18 school records. In the fall of 2017, Trimpe was hired as the Head Swim Coach at West Virginia University Institute of Technology in Beckley, WV. During his lone season with the Golden Bears, three swimmers earned national runner-up finishes at the NAIA National Championships. In addition, the swimming program broke nine school records, and both swim teams were honored for their academic success. Trimpe earned a "Certificate of Excellence" from the American Swim Coaches Association for his time at WVU-Tech.

In addition to collegiate coaching, Trimpe has coached for four different USA Club for swimming. During those coaching opportunities, he has coached Age Group and Senior State qualifiers in Minnesota and Indiana as well as Zone, Sectional, and Futures qualifiers.

"We are thrilled to announce Coach Trimpe as the next head coach for the University of Tennessee Southern swimming program," stated Vice Chancellor/Director of Athletics Brandie Paul. "Coach Trimpe has extensive knowledge of the sport of swimming and has a proven record in his ability to translate that knowledge to his student-athletes. We value his attention to developing the whole student-athlete to include academics and character alongside athletics, and are confident that he will continue to raise the bar for our swim program."

Trimpe was a four-year swimmer at Valparaiso University and served as captain during his senior year. He graduated in 2012 with a bachelor's degree in Geography and earned a Master of Business Administration from Norwich University in 2017. Trimpe continues to swim masters and believes in the power of swimming to create self-discipline that can be drawn on at any point in life.
