Firehawks Break Records in Mid-South Conference Championships

KINGSPORT, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee Southern swimming teams broke 16 program records over an exciting three days of competition at the 2023 Mid-South Conference Championships. The Firehawk men finished fifth of 8, while the UTS women finished eighth of nine.

In total, the men's team shattered five school records. Dayan Rodriguez set records in the 200 IM (2:01.11), 100 Breast (59.68), and 200 Breast (2:14.81). Daniel Villanueva broke the records in the 500 Free (4:57.34) and the 100 Fly (51.66).

A total of six school records were broken in this weekend's grueling competition. Carson Blackwood set a pair of personal bests in the 500 free (6:36.53) and the 200 Free (2:25.99). Alli Wells set records in the 100 Backstroke (1:00.77), 200 Free (2:01.25), the Mile (18:32.49), 200 Backstroke (2:10.44), 500 Free (5:34.34), and 100 Free (55.71). Anna Grace Faulds turned in a personal best on the 500 Free (6:26.81). Becca Corbitt set a new school record in the 100 Breast (1:17.11). Lexie Mullis had a personal best in the 100 Free (1:05.50).

The women's squad would also set school records in multiple relays.
