Firehawks Have Strong Showing Against a Pair of NCAA DIII Powerhouses

SEWANEE, Tenn. – On Saturday, the UTS swim programs faced some tough NCAA DIII competition in a dual meet with Sewanee and Rhodes in head-to-head dual meets. The women fell short against Sewanee (233-41) and Rhodes College (227-42).  The men treaded the tough waters falling to Sewanee (127-113) and Rhodes College (220-44). 

On the women's side of the meet, it was a day full of breaking school records.  The Lady Firehawks were led by Freshmen Alli Wells & Carson Blackwood.

Wells swam to a second-place finish in the 1000 Free. Wells posted an 11:20.75 being both a personal best and a new UTS record. Blackwood logged a personal best in both the 100 and 200 Free. 

On the men's side of the competition, sophomore Daniel Villanueva, took home a top podium spot in the 200 Fly. Freshman Dayan Rodriguez claimed a second-place finish in the 200 Breast.

NEXT UP

The Firehawks will travel to Kingsport, Tenn., to compete in the MSC Championships beginning on Wednesday, February 1st.
