Firehawks Play to a Full Time Draw with Thomas

PULASKI, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee Southern men's soccer squad battled the Nighthawks to a scoreless first half, but each side netted a goal in the final 45 to end in a 1-1 draw on Saturday.   

UT Southern (9-5-2, 4-4-2) would not allow a goal in the first half and out shoot Thomas (9-3-3, 6-2-2) 5-4 in first half.

In the second half, both squads would find the net. The Nighthawks would be awarded a free kick 12-yards out that would lead to the first goal of the match. In the 68th minute, the Firehawks would get off to the races and beath the Thomas defense to level the match. George Grice blasted a shot past the keeper from Manuel Flores. Thomas would outshoot UT Southern 15-12 and hold the shots on goal advantage 11-3.

Ajay Murray (10-1-2) would allow one set piece goal and record 10 saves.

NEXT UP

The Firehawks will await the completion of the final conference matchups next week to know their seeding in the Southern States Athletic Conference tournament beginning in the first weekend of November.
