Firehawks Lead in Second Half, Faulkner Slips by Firehawks

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The University of Tennessee Southern men's soccer squad multiple a goal in each period and held the lead in the final period but fell to Faulkner 4-2 on Thursday.   

UT Southern (9-5-1, 4-4-1) would get on the board to level the match in the 27th minute. Rostand Essomba would finish the Noa Yaguoubi pass to knot the score at one each. Faulkner (10-2-1, 5-2) would lead in shots 11-6.

In the final half, the Firehawks would take the lead in the 61st minute. George Grice would find the net to give the Firehawks a 2-1 lead. Minutes later the Eagles would score the first of three unanswered goals to defeat the Firehawks 4-2. Faulkner would outshoot UT Southern 20-15 and hold the shots on goal advantage 13-10.

Ajay Murray (7-4-1) would allow four goals and record nine saves.

NEXT UP

The Firehawks will close out the regular season at home on Saturday, October 21st. UT Southern will host Thomas with the match set to commence at 4 pm.
