Firehawks Explode in Second Half Deflating Buffs

MILLIGAN, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee Southern men's soccer team found the net three times in a 3-1 victory over Milligan on Saturday.

Milligan (2-2) controlled the first half early cashing in on penalty in the third minute. UT Southern (4-0) fought back and tied the game later in the half on a Carlos Galan penalty in the 36th minute. Milligan led 5-3 in shots in the opening half.

In the second half, the Firehawks ignited for 11 shots and blew by the Buffs. In the 76th minute, George Grice netted the game winner finishing the Galan pass. After a flurry red cards, the Firehawks would add a third goal. Mak Binder scored his second goal of the year from Manuel Flores. UT Southern held the shot advantage 14-10 and 11-5 in shots on goal.

Ajay Murray (4-0) recorded four saves and allowed one goal on a PK.

NEXT UP

The Firehawks will travel to Lebanon, Tenn. to face Cumberland on Wednesday, Sept 3th at 3 p.m.
