PULASKI, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee Southern men's soccer team scored three in each half to ground Midway 6-1 on Wednesday. This was the first home event of the season held at Grissom Pitch.
UT Southern (3-0) dominated the first half outshooting the Eagles 11-2. The Firehawks got on the board first in the 15th minute. Carlos Galan (assist Manuel Flores) laced a shot past the Midway (0-1) keeper. UT Southern added a pair of quick goals late in the half by Tayte Aldridge (assist Hector Garcia) and Galan (assist Manuel Villena). The Firehawks led at the water break 3-nil.
In the second half, the Firehawks would blast 20 shots connecting on three to take the win. Noa Yaguoubi would net a penalty to start the goal scoring in the 57th minute. The Eagles would mop up a save from UT Southern Keeper Ajay Murray to dirty up the clean sheet in the 73rd minute. Nine minutes later Mak Binder would pick a Midway defender's pocket and sent a shot into the net to extend the Firehawk lead to 5-1. Just under three minutes left in the match, Galan would smash a penalty home to complete a hat trick. UT Southern led 31-8 in shots and shots on goal 13-5.
Murray (3-0) recorded four saves in the match.
