Binder Braces, Firehawks Blast Baptist Bible in Home Opener

PULASKI, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee Southern men's soccer team connected with five goals to defeat Baptist Bible 5-0 on Tuesday. The game was played on Baker Intramural Field due to challenges with Grissom Pitch.

UT Southern (2-0) attacked early and often recording 24 shots in the opening half. The Firehawks would take advantage of a Patriot foul in the box, setting up the opening and game winning goal. In the 15th minute Carlos Galan would connect on the PK to lift the Firehawks ahead 1-nil. Six minutes later, Daniel McIlroy would complete the lag from Galan to add a second goal. With at 2-nil lead at the half, UT Southern would hold a 24-0 shot advantage.

In the second half, the Firehawks would continue dominance over the Baptist Bible (0-2). UT Southern would add to the lead in the 51st minute when Mak Binder (assist Kenshin Yasujima) would score his first of two goals in the match.  Eleven minuts further into the second half, Binder would strike again finishing the rebound from a Konstantinos Theodorakis shot. In the final five minutes, Dakota Jackson would blaze past a pair of Pats and zip one by the keeper. The Firehawks would hold a 48-3 shot advantage and 22-0 shots on goal difference.

Ajay Murray (2-0) was credited with the win. He did not face a BBC shot in 79 minutes of work. Yan Rosado would share the clean sheet.
