Boylan Named Men's Soccer Assistant Coach

PULASKI, Tenn. - The University of Tennessee Southern and Vice Chancellor/Director of Athletics Brandie Paul and Head Men's Soccer Coach Brian Davies officially announced the hiring of Bret Boylan as the next assistant coach of the UT Southern Men's Soccer program on Tuesday.

Boylan, a native of Jackson, Tennessee, comes to UT Southern from his time as an assistant coach at Carson-Newman University where he coached for three seasons.

"I am excited for the opportunity to return to the UT Southern men's soccer program," said Boylan. "The program has a rich history of excellence and I am looking forward to helping continue this excellence. I want to thank Coach Brian Davies, Athletic Director Brandie Paul, and Chancellor Linda Martin for bringing me on board. Go Firehawks!"

Boylan began his coaching career as head middle school coach at University School of Jackson where he coached and amassed a record of 86-10. from 2013-2017. During his time at USJ, he assisted with both the boys' and girls' programs. Prior to his time at CNU, Boylan served as men's assistant coach here at UT Southern/Martin Methodist for six seasons. During the stint at MMC, Boylan aided the RedHawks to a 61-43-9 record that included an NAIA National Championship appearance in 2018. During this time, Boylan also worked with the Fayetteville High School boys' program.

 "I am thrilled to welcome Bret back on campus, commented Coach Davies. "I have known him for years, and I know he will be a valuable asset to our program. Bret is very passionate about the success of our student-athletes, and I know the boys will be excited to work with him!"

Boylan was a four-year defenseman at Lambuth University, where he compiled seven goals and nine assists in 56 appearances for the Eagles. He graduated in 2011 with a bachelor's degree in Health & Human Performance.
