PORTSMOUTH, Ohio – The University of Tennessee Southern men's soccer team defeated Shawnee State 4-2 on Sunday, October 23.  

In the opening half, UTS would strike first scoring in the 10^th minute. Alejandro Blanco would header in a Carlos Galan cross. Shawnee State would roar back to level the match three minutes later. UTS would lead in shots 10-8.

In the second half, both teams would score again. The Bears would take their only lead on a successful PK in the 60^th minute. The Firehawks answered scoring three unanswered goals in the final 29 minutes to take the victory back to Pulaski. In the 61^st minute, Galan would net a 26-yard shot over the keeper's head from Miguel Tizapa. Tizapa would add the game-winner in the 72^nd minute from Manuel Otero. Konstantinos Theodorakis would add one in the 86^th minute. Otero and Blanco would be credited with assists. The Firehawks would outshoot the Bears 17-14 and would lead shots-on-goal 11-8.

Ajay Murray would record the win. He would face eight shots and record six saves.

MSC TOURNAMENT

On November 1^st, the MSC championship will begin. This year's edition will be held at higher seed sites for each round. Here is the tournament breakdown:

• Seeds 1-5 will get an opening round bye and will play in the quarterfinals on Nov. 4-5.
• The 6-8 seeds will host the lower three seeds on Nov. 1. The winners will advance to the quarterfinals.
• The semifinals and finals will be held at the highest remaining seed on Nov. 9 and 11.
