Galan Nets Game Winner, Firehawks Sermonize Saints

PULASKI, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee Southern men's soccer team scored a goal in each half in a 2-1 victory over Thomas More on Saturday, October 15.

UTS would get on the board first in the 33rd minute. Pietari Vanska would net his fifth score of the season from the Manuel Flores assist. The Saints' prayers for an equalizer would be answered five minutes later. Both squads were tied at one at the break. UTS would lead in shots 5-3.

In the second half, UTS would take advantage of a TMU foul that resulted in a PK. Carlos Galan would beat the keeper to record the eventual game-winner. The Saints would outshoot the Firehawks 8-7 and would lead shots-on-goal 5-4.

Ajay Murray logged the win. He faced five shots allowing one goal.

The Firehawks will travel to Georgetown, Ky. to take on the Tigers on Wednesday, October 19th at 6:30 pm.
