Flores Braces, Firehawks Trample Tigers

PULASKI, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee Southern men's soccer team scored a pair in each half to defeat the Campbellsville Tigers 4-1 on Saturday, September 24. 

In the opening half, UTS would get on the board on a Manuel Flores header from Carlos Galan in the 30th minute. Moments later Konstantinos Theodorakis would net his first goal as a Firehawk from the double assist from Miguel Tizapa and Petter Hanekamhaug. CU would lead in shots 7-6.

In the second half, Flores and Galan would pair up again. Flores would finish for his fifth goal of the year in the 52nd minute. Cooper Budwee would win a loose ball and blast a shot past the CU keeper for his first goal as a Firehawk in the 60th minute. UTS was on its way to a second consecutive clean sheet, but a late foul would award the Tigers a PK. Sebastiano Musu would slip it past Ajay Murray. The Tigers would outshoot the Firehawks 16-14, and UTS would lead shots-on-goal 7-6.

Murray recorded five saves on six chances allowing a PK goal. He earned his seventh win of the season between the sticks.

The Firehawks will travel to McKenzie, Tenn. to take on Bethel on Wednesday, September 28th at 7:30 pm. Bethel fell to #15 Cumberlands this evening 2-1.
