PULASKI, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee Southern men's soccer team scored early and often Hnding Talladega their first loss of the season in a 10-nil win on Monday, September 12. 

UTS broke the goose egg in the 8th minute by a Carlos Galan finish of a Manuel Flores cross. Two minutes later, Alejandro Blanco would header in a cross to give Flores his second helper of the match. In the 20th minute, Blanco would streak into the box and would be fouled by the Tornadoes. Rodrigo Costa would cash in the awarded PK to loft the Firehawks to a 3-nil lead. Later in the half, Pietari Vanska would blast home a free kick. UTS would hold the shot advantage at the break 11-3.

The Firehawks would again quickly pour more on the Tornadoes. Blanco would finish his brace from the cross by Manuel Morales. Just a minute later, Manuel Otero and Morales would team up to extend the Firehawk lead to 6-nil. Kenshin Yasushima would place one top-shelf from the helper by Vanska. Yasushima would complete the second UTS brace of the match three minutes later. His shot would bank off the far side post giving Morales his third assist. Mak Binder would add a late brace as well. Binder would punt one deep into the net behind the TC keeper finishing a Hector Garcia cross. Petter Hanekamhaug would feed a cross to Binder to complete his brace and secure the 10-nil win for the Firehawks. UTS would end the match with a 33-3 shot advantage and lead shots-on-goal 19-3.

Senior keeper Ajay Murray recorded the win by recording three saves in the opening half and would improve to 3-1 on the year. Sophomore Michael Anderson would mop up the clean sheet.

NUMBERS GAME

10 – This is the first time since October 25, 2013, UTS has amassed double-digit goals (vs Brewton-Parker, 10-nil)

66 – UTS has outshot their opponents 66-7 in the past two matches.

23.2 – UTS leads the Mid-South Conference in shots per match.

3 – UTS' three clean sheets rank them in a tie for second amongst MSC squads. 

4th – Today's win moved coach Brian Davies into 4th place in UTS men's soccer coaching history passing Frank Davis (95-96).
