Firehawks Eliminate Eagles

MIDWAY, Ky. – The University of Tennessee Southern men's soccer team performed like a well-oiled machine scoring seven goals to blank Midway 7-nil on Saturday, September 10. 

UTS blazed the nets with five first-half goals before the break. Carlos Galan got the Firehawks ignited just 20 seconds into the game from the Manuel Flores assist. Alejandro Blanco would connect with Galan for the score in the 12th minute. Manuel Otero would add a goal from the helper by Blanco in the 17th minute. UTS would add a pair of unassisted scores in the 26th and 41st minutes by Flores and Manuel Silva. UTS would have a commanding shot advantage at the break 19-1.

The Firehawks were not finished there, Blanco would complete a brace in the 58th minute from the boot of Andres Duarte. Mak Binder would score the final UTS goal from the Silva assist. UTS would end the match with a 33-4 shot advantage and lead shots-on-goal 15-3.

Senior keeper Ajay Murray recorded the win not facing a Midway shot. Murray would capture his third win of the season between the sticks. Freshman Aleksander Duus would record three saves to share the clean sheet.

The Firehawks will return to Grissom Pitch hosting Talladega on Monday, September 12th. The kickoff is set for 4 pm.
