Bio

Dugan Lyne enters into his sixth season as head coach in 2023-2024. It will be his 12th season overall with the University of Tennessee Southern men's basketball program and his 16th year overall in collegiate coaching.

On June 26, 2018, he was named the seventh men's basketball head coach in the program’s modern era.

In Lyne’s 12 years of coaching at the University of Tennessee Southern, the program has achieved an overall record of 201-135. After a 9-22 year in 2017-2018, Lyne took over and the program has seen marked improvement each year. A three-win improvement in year 1, an additional four-win improvement from year one to year two, and a winning percentage improvement of .533 in year two to .640 in year three.

Some of Lyne's accomplishments include: a National Tournament berth in 2021-2022 (the first since 2016-2017), an exhibition win versus Division 1 Samford University being ranked nationally during the 2020-2021 season- the first national ranking since the 2016-2017 season and being named the HoopDirt/Just Play Solutions NAIA National Coach of the Week. During his time at UT Southern, Lyne has helped guide the program to two conference championships (2013 TranSouth, 2015 Southern States) and 4 National Tournament appearances (2013, 2015, 2017, 2022). Lyne has also coached and recruited six All-Americans, eighteen all-conference selections, one Academic All-American, one Conference Newcomer of the Year, and one Conference Freshman of the Year.

Lyne came to UT Southern after one season with Division III, Manchester University, one season with Division III, Westminster College, and two seasons as the Graduate Assistant and Director of Basketball Operations at Austin Peay State University. Lyne earned a bachelor's degree in business and a master’s degree in health and human performance from Austin Peay State University.

Lyne is a native of Memphis, TN, and is married to the former Erin Kordas from Chicago, IL. The couple has three children, Jimmy, Molly, and Packy.
