Hudson Leads All Scorers with 23, Firehawks Withstand WolfPack

PULASKI, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee Southern men's basketball team began the day with an unblemished Southern States Athletic Conference record. Surviving a challenge from Loyola in a 69-58 win on Saturday. Two Firehawks added double digit points in the game. Adarion Hudson led the Firehawks with 23 points, six steals, and six assists. Tad Sivley added 11 points and seven rebounds. 

UT Southern (16-2, 10-0) and Loyola (5-11, 4-5) both started out slowly as both teams were tied at six with 15 minutes left in the opening stanza. The WolfPack would pop off a 10-0 run over the next five minutes to continue to hold the lead. With just under six minutes left in the half, UTS would take their first lead in the game of 19-18. After multiple ties and several lead changes, the Firehawks would lead at the break 31-29. LU would out shoot UTS 43 to 41 percent.

In the final half, neither team could pull away. LU would hold a 44-38 lead with just over 10 minutes left. The Firehawks would continue to battle back and retake the lead with eight minutes to go. The Firehawks would begin to pick apart the WolfPack defense and never relinquish the lead.

NEXT UP

UT Southern will return to the CAC, hosting Stillman on Wednesday, January 17th. The Firehawks and Tigers will tip-off at 7:30 p.m. Both teams met earlier in the season in Tuscaloosa, UTS defeated SC 94-75.
