Sivley Leads the Firehawks with a Double Double, UT Southern Hangs a Conference Loss on Life

PULASKI, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee Southern men's basketball team's high-powered offense only mustered up 70 points for the second time this season (first occurrence was a 74-70 exhibition win over Tennessee Tech) in a 74-71 conference win over Life on Thursday. UT Southern (9-2, 4-0) outshot the visitors from Georgia 41 to 38 percent in the opening half. Four Firehawks scored in double digits. Adarion Hudson led all scorers with 22 points and four assists. Malik Tyson drained four second half triples adding 12 points. Mark Vance tossed in 11 points. Tad Sivley filled the score card with 10 points, five assists, and 21 rebounds.

Life (10-2, 4-1) would suffer their first Southern States Athletic Conference loss of the season, leaving only UT Southern and William Carey are the final two teams unblemished in league play. Life would hold the lead at the break 33-32. In the second half, both teams would struggle from the floor shooting a combined 25 of 64. UT Southern would shoot a perfect 13 of 13 from the charity stripe down the stretch to deny the Runnin' Eagles a win in Pulaski.

UT Southern will travel to Lebanon, Tenn. on Saturday, December 9th, to take on Cumberland. The Phoenix and Firehawks will tip-off at 2 p.m. UT Southern defeated Cumberland 90-74 on November 4th in Pulaski.
