Hudson Scores 23, Firehawks Burn by Tigers

WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. – The University of Tennessee Southern men's basketball team struggled from range shooting 13 percent. But the Firehawks held their composure in a tight nip and tuck game, defeating Campbellsville 61-59.

Adarion Hudson led the UT Southern (4-1) scoring attack with 23 points, shooting 67 percent including a perfect seven of seven from the charity stripe. Brady Brown connected on the only two Firehawk triples pitching in 11 points.

Campbellsville (4-2) and the Firehawks would trade the lead six times in the match and there would be 11 ties. In the first half, both squads would be tied at nine just before the first media timeout. CU would jump out to their largest lead in the game of six at the eight-minute mark. The Firehawks would close out the opening half on a 15-7 run to lead 28-26 at the break.

In the final half, both teams would each score 33 points in the final half. UT Southern would jump out their largest lead early in the half. But it would all come down to a late pair of free throws by Brown. With a one-point advantage, Brown would miss the first of two and make the second to lift the Firehawks to a two-point win.

UT Southern will close out the classic in Williamsburg, Ky., facing the host team, Cumberlands on Saturday, November 10th. The game will tip off at 2 p.m.
