Six Firehawks Scratch Double Digit Points, UT Southern Extinguish Phoenix

PULASKI, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee Southern men's basketball team got back in the win column with a 90-74 win over Cumberland in the Firehawk Classic. This was the second time this season that the Firehawks have scored 90 plus points this season. Six Firehawks scored in double figures with Brady Brown recording a double-double.

Adarion Hudson led the UT Southern (2-1) scoring attack with 16 points and seven assists. Newcomer Mark Vance posted a new high mark as a Firehawk with 14 points. Kendall Wright threw in 13 points in 21 minutes.  Brady Brown's double-double was the second by a Firehawk this season with his 11 points and 10 rebounds. Tad Sivley just missed a double-double scoring 10 and corralling nine boards. Malik Tyson pitched in 10 in 17 minutes of action.

Cumberland (0-2) would lead once in the game, holding the early 2-0 lead. The Firehawks began to heat up and pulled away to lead 49-28 at the break. UT Southern would move out to its largest lead of the game at the under 12 media timeout in the second half holding a 31 point advantage. The Phoenix outscored the Firehawks 37-22 down the stretch.

Ayden Yates and Lennart Stange saw their first playing time in tonight's win. Jack Harper and Tyler Dudley each added a bucket scoring their first points of the season.

NEXT UP

UT Southern will conclude the Firehawk Classic tomorrow at the CAC. The Firehawks will host the Ambassadors of Oakwood at 7 pm on November 4th. UTS defeated the Ambassadors last season in Huntsville 83-79. The game will follow the Point vs Cumberland matchup that starts at 2 pm.
