PORTSMOUTH, Ohio – The University of Tennessee Southern men's basketball stumbled on the road dropping a 70-68 result to Shawnee State on Saturday.
Brady Brown led the Firehawks with 21 points.
UTS jumped out to an 8-0 lead early in the first stanza, but SSU battle back to lead at the half 34-32.
In the second half, both teams would trade the lead. SSU would hold their largest lead with over nine minutes remaining at 56-49.UTS would charge back to take the lead with under six left to play. SSU would hit a big triple with 92 seconds left to give them a lead they would not relinquish.
UTS would shoot 27 of 62 for 44% from the field. SSU would end up going 25-63 for 40%. There would be 11 lead changes or eight ties.
