Hudson and Hancock Scratch Double Figures, Firehawks Snap Bears Win Streak

PIKEVILLE, Ky. – The University of Tennessee Southern men's basketball snapped Pikeville's four game winning streak with a 67-63 victory in Pikeville on Thursday.

Adarion Hudson led the Firehawks with 16 points. Kavion Hancock added 13 tallies in the favoriable decision. Tad Sivley just missed a double-double with eight points and 10 boards.

UTS scored first, but Pikeville would go on a 14-0 run to lead by 11 just before the first media timeout. The Firehawks would blaze the nets piecing together a 13-0 run to retake the lead. The back-and-forth action would continue through the first half, with the Bears holding the five point advantage at the half.

Both teams would trade the lead early in the final half, but UPike would hold the lead for most of the period. The Sivley three-point play with just under four minutes remaning would give the Firehawks a lead they would hold for the rest of the match.  

UTS would shoot 24 of 56 for 43% from the field. There would be six lead changes or three ties.

NEXT UP

The Firehawks will close out the weekend trip traveling to Portsmouth, Ohio to meet Shawnee State. The Firehawks and the Bears will tip at 2 pm on Saturday, January 7th.
