Hudson Sets New Program Mark for Career Points, Firehawks Come Up Short to Lions

PULASKI, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee Southern men's basketball dropped their second-weekend loss in a 72-67 result with Freed on Saturday.

Adarion Hudson led the Firehawks with 24 points. Brady Brown added a double-double with 12 points and 16 boards. Kavion Hancock pitched in 12 points.

Hudson entered the game needing 12 points to pass RedHawk great Kirk Newnham's 1,317 career mark. At the three-minute mark left in the first half, Hudson would pen his name atop the career points list. The Firehawks led the Lions after the opening media time-out 20-17, but FHU would finish the half strong to lead 38-29 at the break. In the final half, the Firehawks would chip away at the Lion lead and trail by two with 8:45 left. Brown would bomb a triple to lift UTS back in front 56-55 with just over eight and a half minutes left. The Firehawks would have a couple of chances down the stretch, but couldn't cash in.

UTS would shoot 25 of 57 for 44% from the field. There would be 10 lead changes and three ties.

The Firehawks will continue the three-game homestand hosting Cumberlands on Thursday, December 15th. Tip-off is slated for 7:30 p.m.
