Pulaski, Tenn.- The University of Tennessee Southern men's basketball team got back into the win column on Saturday with an 87-74 win over Shawnee State.

"I am always excited about our guys figuring out a way to win," said head coach Dugan Lyne. "We knew how talented Shawnee State is, and they came out and hit some tough shots. We didn't particularly do well defensively, but I was pleased with our second-half performance." 

 FIREHAWK FACTS

  • Five Firehawks recorded 10 points or more. Cam Welch 20, Brady Brown 17, Adarion Hudson 13, CJ Greer 12, Tad Sivley 10.
  • Hudson and Brown both secured double-doubles today. Brown had 17 points and 10 boards, Hudson had 13 points and a season-high 12 assists. Sivley missed joining the duo with 10 points and nine boards.
  • UTS pulled down 29 rebounds, five less than the visitors.
  • The Firehawks would swipe four steals, matching the Bears.

NUMBERS GAME

   7 – Seven players scored for UTS, with five scoring 10 or more.

 20 – UTS had 20 assists, doubling up SSU.

 10 – The Firehawks committed 10 turnovers, two less than the Bears.

 13 – UTS ran up the bill on the P-Card, connecting on 13 long-distance shots. 

NEXT UP

The Firehawks will hit the road on February 3rd to face the Lions of Freed-Hardeman University. The Firehawks and Lions will begin at 8 pm. UTS looks to complete the regular-season sweep after taking the first meeting of the season 73-62 in Pulaski.
