Pulaski, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee Southern men's basketball team relied on a stingy defense to blow by the University of the Cumberlands 64-61 on Thursday night.

"I thought we responded well defensively tonight," commented Coach Dugan Lyne. "They are a well-coached, physical team, and we answered the bell tonight. We have not been sharp on the defensive side of the ball this season, and I was pleased with our consistent effort tonight."

FIREHAWK FACTS

  • UTS pulled down 33 rebounds tying the Patriots.
  • The Firehawks would record eight blocks.

  8 – Firehawks knocked down 8-of-23 from deep, compared to 4-of-16 for the visitors.

   7 – Seven different players scored for UTS, with four scoring eight or more.
