Chargers Defeat Firehawks in Seven Innings

PULASKI, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee Southern baseball team concluded their home regular season schedule with a 25-6 loss to NCAA DII Alabama-Huntsville on Tuesday.

Alabama-Huntsville scored 10 runs in the opening inning to take the early lead. Kevin McCarthy hit a sacrifice fly to third driving in Landon Rogers. UTS trailed 10-1 after one inning.

UAH would score six runs in the second and five runs in the third to take a commanding lead at 21-1 after three innings.

In the fourth, UAH added one more run. Zach Chaney doubled to right center scoring Coleman Siniard and McCarthy. UTS trailed 22-3 after four.

In the fifth, Rogers hit a solo home run to left center to close the gap to 22-4.

In the seventh, UAH added three runs. Rhett Birdsong tripled to left center scoring Rogers. McCarthy singled to left scoring R. Birdsong.

Caiden Rodgers got the start and took the loss. Rodgers allowed five earned runs. Weston Horton closed out the first inning. Cody Edwards tossed one inning allowing four earned runs. Griffin Sahli allowed four earned runs. Gerry Wayne Davis tossed two innings. Davis allowed two earned runs and struck out three. Ridge Raper tossed two innings allowing one hit and picked up three strikeouts. Blake Birdsong tossed one inning allowing three earned runs.

NEXT UP

The Firehawks close out the regular season with a three-game series at Blue Mountain Christian. Friday's double header is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m.
