Firehawks Take Game Three Against Crusaders

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The University of Tennessee Southern baseball team got back in the win column taking game three of the weekend series with William Carey 5-3 on Sunday.

William Carey scored all three of their runs in the third to lead 3-0 after three innings.

UT Southern began to cut into the Crusader lead in the fourth. Kevin McCarthy reached on a fielding error allowing Gabe Sibert and Noah Junker to score. UTS trailed 3-2 after four.

In the fifth, the Firehawks would take the lead. Sibert singled to third scoring Landon Rogers and Junker. UTS led 4-3.

UT Southern would pad the lead in the seventh. Blake Birdsong hit a sacrifice fly to left scoring Devin Buckhalter.

Logan Parrott got the start and tossed six innings in the win. He allowed three earned runs on four hits and struck out six. Ridge Raper tossed two innings allowing one hit. B. Birdsong secured the save, tossing a scoreless ninth.

NEXT UP

The Firehawks will return to Bobby Walker Field on Friday, March 29th, hosting Brewton-Parker at 2 p.m.
