Firehawks Drop Pair of Close Games to Crusaders

HATTIESBURG, Miss. – The University of Tennessee Southern baseball team forced extra innings in game one but fell short 3-2 and dropped game two 2-0 to William Carey on Saturday.

GAME ONE

William Carey scored a pair of runs in the fourth to lead 2-0.

In the sixth, Gabe Sibert singled to second and a throwing error by WCU alloed Landon Rogers and Noah Junker to score. UTS evened the game at two runs apiece.

In the eighth, William Carey pushed one across the winning run-in extra inning.

Josh Simmons got the start and tossed four innings. He allowed two earned runs on three hits. Griffin Sahli suffered the loss. He allowed one earned run on three hits.

GAME TWO

William Carey scored a run in the second and fifth innings to take game two 2-0.

Tray Lacy tossed the complete game suffering the loss. He allowed two earned runs on seven hits and recorded six strikeouts.

NEXT UP

The Firehawks will close out the SSAC weekend with a nine-inning affair with the Crusaders tomorrow. The first pitch is scheduled for one p.m.
