Firehawks Rally in Ninth, No. 10 Faulkner Survives UT Southern

PULASKI, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee Southern baseball team fell in the series finale with #10 Faulkner 7-5 at Bobby Walker Field on Sunday.

The Firehawks got on the board in the first two innings to take the early lead. Gabe Sibert grounded out to short scoring Landon Rogers. UTS led 1-0 after one.

In the second, Chandler Jordan doubled to left scoring Grayson Willis. The Firehawks led 2-0 heading to the third.

#10 Faulkner scored three runs on two homeruns. The Eagles took the lead 3-2 after three innings.

UT Southern tied it up in the fourth. Jordan singled down the left field line driving in Rhett Birdsong.

Faulkner added four runs over the 6th, 7th, and 9th to lead 7-3.

In the ninth, Kevin McCarthy singled to right scoring R. Birdsong. Jordan got his third rbi of the day scoring Willis.

Logan Parrott got the start and tossed five innings. Parrott allowed three earned runs on six hits and fanned eight Eagle batters.  Ridge Raper suffered the loss allowing three earned runs. Cody Edwards tossed a scoreless eighth inning. Gerry Wayne Davis allowed one earned run on four hits.

NEXT UP

The Firehawks will return to action hosting Lindsey Wilson on Wednesday, March 20th. The first pitch between the Blue Raiders and Firehawks is scheduled for 1 p.m.
