Firehawks Come Up Short in Series Opener with Tigers

CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – The University of Tennessee Southern baseball started out with a 2-0 lead but fell 4-3 in game one of the weekend series with Campbellsville today. Game two was suspended after two innings and will be resumed tomorrow at noon.

GAME ONE

Blake Birdsong would single in the first scoring, Kevin McCarthy. UTS would lead 1-0 after two innings.

McCarthy would single to right scoring Landon Rogers. UTS would lead 2-1 after three.

CU would score three in the fifth to take the lead 4-2 after five.

In the final inning, Noah Junker would reach on a Tiger error allowing Birdsong to score to make the score 4-3.

Griffin Sahli would toss 4.1 innings in the loss. Sahli would allow four earned runs on five hits. Gerry Wayne Davis would hurl the final 1.2 innings allowing one hit.

NEXT UP

The Firehawks will return to action tomorrow to conclude the weekend series with Campbellsville. The first pitch is scheduled for noon.
