Firehawks Fall Short in Final Game of Series with Lions

PULASKI, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee Southern baseball team had an opportunity in the final frame to extend the game but fell short in an 8-5 game with Freed-Hardeman on Monday.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Freed jumped out to a 1-0 lead heading to the UTS half of the first.

UTS would answer with a three-spot in the sixth. Kevin McCarthy would hit a sacrifice fly to center scoring Landon Rogers. On the next pitch, Ty Garrett would leave the yard driving in Coleman Siniard. UTS would take the lead at 3-1 after six.

In the eighth, Garrett would triple to right center plating Cannon Raby and McCarthy. UTS would knot the game up heading to the ninth at five each.

Logan Parrott would toss seven innings in the no-decision. Parrott would allow four earned runs on eight hits. Cody Womble would toss an inning allowing one earned run on a pair of hits. Josh Simmons would take the loss. Simmons allowed three earned runs on four hits. Gerry Wayne Davis would log the final pair of outs.

NEXT UP

The Firehawks will travel to Tuscaloosa, Ala. To take on Stillman on Tuesday, April 11th. The first pitch is scheduled for 1 pm.
