Firehawks Douse Wildcats in Finale of Series Sweep

McKENZIE, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee Southern baseball team couldn't be contained in the confines of the Kahlden Complex sweeping the weekend series with Bethel. UTS cruised through game three winning 19-0 on Sunday.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Josh Porter would begin the onslaught with a solo homer in the second. Landon Rogers would single driving in Noah Junker and Brantley Holden. UTS led 3-0 after two.

In the third, Porter again would record an RBI. Porter would put the ball in play to score Kevin McCarthy. Ty Garrett would leave the Kahlden Complex scoring Cannon Raby. Junker would single scoring Janzen Powell. UTS would enjoy a 7-0 lead after three.

In the fourth, Powell would blast a three-run bomb scoring Garrett and Porter. UTS held the 10-0 lead after four.

The Firehawks would have another big inning in the fifth, Garrett would single driving in McCarthy. A few batters later, Powell would hit his second three-run homer of the game scoring Garrett and Porter. UTS extended the Firehawk lead to 14-0 after five.

In the sixth, the Firehawks would go back-to-back scoring three runs via long balls. McCarthy would blast a two-run round tripper scoring Rogers, and Coleman Siniard would launch a solo shot on the next pitch. UTS had a commanding lead after six at 17-0.

In the seventh, Michael Wurtz would laser a two-run double down the right field line scoring Rogers and Junker.

Logan Parrott tossed the complete game shutout. Parrott allowed five hits in seven innings of work and recording nine strikeouts.

NEXT UP

The Firehawks will return to Bobby Walker Field hosting Oakwood on Monday, April 3rd. The first pitch is scheduled for 3 pm.
