Firehawk Comeback Comes Up Short, Blue Raiders Take Game One

PULASKI, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee Southern baseball team couldn't push the tying run across in the ninth falling to Lindsey Wilson 6-5 in the weekend set's opening game at Bobby Walker Field.

GAME ONE

Michael Wurtz would drive in Landon Rogers in the first. Both squads would be tied at one after one.

Noah Junker would double allowing Rogers to race around the diamond and score from first. UTS would trail 5-2 after seven innings.

Ty Garrett blasted a solo home run to right in the eighth. UTS would draw closer by the count of 5-3.

UTS would enter the bottom of the ninth trailing by three. Junker would double again scoring Rogers. Kevin McCarthy would single to center scoring Junker.

Nathan Curtis would suffer the loss evening up his record at 4-4. Curtis would hurl six innings allowing four earned runs and striking out six. Weston Horton would toss the final three frames. Horton would allow one earned run and fanning five LWC batters.

NEXT UP

The Firehawks look to rebound tomorrow at Bobby Walker Field, closing out the series with LWC. The first pitch is scheduled for 11 am.
