Late Inning Heroics Even the Series with Saints

CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. – The University of Tennessee Southern baseball team drew even in the series with Thomas More winning game two 8-6 after falling 11-2 in the opener. The rubber match will be contested tomorrow.

GAME ONE

Trailing by four in the second inning, Ty Garrett would double to right center driving in Coleman Siniard.

Kevin McCarthy would reach on a TMU error in the third allowing Landon Rogers to cross the plate. UTS would trail 6-2 after three.

Nathan Curtis would get the start in and toss four innings allowing two earned runs on seven hits. Weston Horton would hurl the final three. Horton would allow one earned run on five hits.

GAME TWO

Trailing 1-0 after one inning, Devin Buckhaulter smashed a ground-rule double scoring Josh Porter and Cannon RabyBrantley Holden's single would push McCarthy across the dish. Later in the inning, Rogers would double driving in Gerry Wayne Davis. UTS would lead 5-1 heading to the bottom of the sixth.

In the eighth, Rogers would put the ball in play allowing Nick Davis to score putting the Firehawks in the lead 6-5 with an inning and a half left.

After TMU would tie the game in the eighth, Siniard would blast a two-run bomb scoring Noah Junker to lead the Firehawks to an 8-6 win.

Logan Parrott would allow four earned runs on eight hits. Cody Womble would take the win moving to 2-0 on the year. Womble tossed 2.1 innings allowing one earned run on three hits. Josh Simmons would secure the final out earning his first save of the year. NEXT UP

The Firehawks will close out the three-game series with Thomas More on Saturday, March 18th. The first pitch is scheduled for 1 pm CST but could change depending on mother nature.
