No. 15 Patriots Slide by Firehawks in Opening Game of Series

PULASKI, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee Southern baseball team dug a hole early in the opening game with #15 Cumberlands falling 7-3 on Friday.

Wild pitches haunted the Firehawks early creating a 3-0 deficit in the first inning. UC would add another run in the fourth, but Coleman Siniard would launch a 2 RBI double scoring Noah Junker and Kevin McCarthy. UTS would trail 4-2 after four.

The Pats would plate three more, two of which occurred on wild pitches, in the fifth.

Siniard would reach on an infield hit that scored Michael Wurtz.

Nathan Curtis would take the loss tossing five innings allowing seven earned runs and striking out six. Griffin Sahil would toss the final four frames holding the Pats to one hit and fanning seven batters.

The Firehawks will continue the weekend series with #15 Cumberlands on Saturday, March 11th beginning at 11:30 am.
