Cougars Crash Firehawks in Final Day Double Header

PULASKI, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee Southern baseball team dropped their first weekend series of the season after a pair of losses on Sunday at Bobby Walker Field. UTS couldn't hang on to the lead in game three falling 7-5, and Saint Francis exploded defeating UTS 23-8 in the series finale.

GAME THREE

Coleman Siniard's single would crack the goose egg on the board driving in Kevin McCarthy. Later in the first, Blake Birdsong would pick up an RBI scoring Ty Garrett. UTS led 2-0 after one.

Zac Hayes would smash a solo home run in the second to lift the Firehawks up by a score of 3-1.

Landon Rogers doubled in the fourth scoring Chandler Jordan and Birdsong extending the lead to 5-1.

Logan Parrott would be very effective in the start. Parrott would allow two earned runs and strike out seven. Cody Edwards would allow two earned runs, and Josh Simmons would be saddled with the loss. Simmons would allow two runs tossing three innings.

GAME FOUR

Josh Porter drove in Cannon Raby and Rogers with his double in the first. Later in the inning, Nick Davis would plate Porter to narrow the Cougars' lead to 9-3.

Devin Buckhalter would take a trip to around the bases in the second shortening the Cougar lead to 19.

Rogers would drive an RBI double in the fourth scoring Janzen Powell.

Porter would cross the plate via a wild pitch in the fifth. A few batters later Brantley Holden would hit a 2 RBI double scoring Powell and Huntley.

NEXT UP

The Firehawks will host Johnson University on February 21st. The first pitch is scheduled for 3 pm.
