Firehawks Split in First Two of the Four Game Series With Cougars

PULASKI, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee Southern baseball team split a pair with the Saint Francis Cougars at Bobby Walker Field on Saturday. UTS cinched up game one 10-5 and fell in game two 7-0.

GAME ONE

Siniard would add another run on an RBI triple scoring Kevin McCarthy in the third. UTS would lead 2-1.

Grayson Willis would score as Landon Rogers swiped second base in the fourth. Later in the inning, Noah Junker would drive in Rogers. The Firehawks would have the advantage 4-2.

Ty Garrett would drive in McCarthy in the fifth.

Willis would score on a wild pitch in the sixth. A few batters later, Michael Wurtz would drive in Rogers and Junker. UTS would double up the Cougars 8-4.

In the seventh, Blake Birdsong would smash a round-tripper. Junker would drive in Cannon Raby to extend the lead to 10-4.

Nathan Curtis would get the start. Curtis would hurl five innings allowing one earned run and striking three. Griffin Sahli would record the save by tossing four innings in relief.  

GAME TWO

Tray Lacy would allow three earned runs in 1.2 innings of work. Weston Horton would throw 3.1 innings allowing one earned run. Cody Womble would toss the final two innings allowing one hit.

NEXT UP

The Firehawks will close out the four-game series tomorrow at Bobby Walker field with the first pitch scheduled for 10 AM.
