PULASKI, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee Southern baseball team got back in the win column sweeping Indiana-South Bend in the first pair of the four-game series at Bobby Walker Field on Friday. UTS took game one 3-0 and game two 7-0.

GAME ONE

Sam Bowling's second-inning single put the Firehawks on the board first scoring Ty Garrett.

Blake Birdsong would single in the third plating Michael Wurtz.

Wurtz would launch a four-bagger in the fifth to extend the Firehawk lead to 3-0.

Nathan Curtis would cash in on the starting nod hurling 5.1 innings. He allowed four hits and fanned seven. Gerry Wayne Davis closed the game out earning his first save of the year.  

GAME TWO

Collin Huntley reached on a fielder's choice allowing Cooper Mann to score in the fourth. Davis' single added a pair of runs scoring Cannon Raby and Chandler Jordan padding the UTS fourth. Noah Junker reached on an error allowing Landon Rogers and Davis to score. UTS would lead 5-0 moving to the fifth.

Rogers would smash a two-run homer scoring Janzen Powell in the sixth.

Logan Parrott took the win for the Firehawks throwing four innings and striking out five. Griffin Sahli would toss a pair of innings not allowing a hit and fanning five. Cody Edwards would allow three hits in the final inning.  

NEXT UP

The Firehawks will close out the weekend series with Indiana University-South Bend at Bobby Walker Field on Saturday, February 11th beginning at noon.
