No. 6 Eagles Slip by Firehawks

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The University of Tennessee Southern baseball team took #6 Faulkner to the final inning in a non-conference thriller falling 8-5 on Tuesday.

Michael Wurtz put the Firehawks on the board in the first with his RBI sacrifice fly.

Faulkner would plate four In the second and a pair in the fourth to lead 6-1

Landon Rogers would drive in Brantley Holden with a sac fly in the fifth.

In the seventh, Kevin McCarthy would double-scoring Holden to draw the Firehawks to within five.

In the ninth, McCarthy would drive a three-bagger to score a Holden and Sam Bowling, but the Firehawks couldn't add additional runs.

The Firehawks would pitch by committee in the nine-inning affair. Nathan Curtis would toss a scoreless first. Connor Marlin would take the loss allowing four earned runs. Griffin Sahil would work 2.2 innings giving up a pair of runs. Cody Edwards allowed a pair of earned runs in 1.1 innings of work. Janzen Powell, Weston Horton, and Logan Parrott would hurl 2.2 innings combined shutting down the #6 team in the land.

The Firehawks will host Indiana University-South Bend at Bobby Walker Field on Friday, February 10th beginning at 2 pm.
