WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. – The University of Tennessee Southern baseball team opened their best of three series with Cumberlands on Friday. UC took the regular-season series 2-1. The Firehawks dropped game one 10-0 in seven. UTS and UC will meet tomorrow at 1 p.m. for game two with game three to follow if necessary.
Nate Curtis held the Pats in check for the first three frames. In the fourth, UC manufactured a run via a sacrifice fly and added the icing on the cake with a 2-run homer to take a 3-0 lead. Cumberlands would pad the lead in the sixth stringing together some hits to jump to an 8-0 advantage. UC would push two across in the seventh to secure game one.
UTS dropped to 14-32 on the year, and UC improved to 39-13.

UTS will hope to turn the tables tomorrow in game two at 1 p.m.
