Firehawks and Wildcats Split Day One
PULASKI, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee Southern baseball team split the first two games of their three-game set with Bethel on Friday. UTS took the comeback win in game one 2-1 and fell in game two 5-3.
GAME ONE
- UTS had five base hits. Blaine Harris, Lance Pope, Hayden Wright, Michael Wurtz, and Derrick Junker each had a hit.
- The Firehawks had three extra-base hits: Harris (2B), D. Junker (2B), and Pope (3B).
- The Firehawks left five runners on base and drew one walk.
- Will Clemons had a steal for the Firehawks
- Nathan Curtis took the win in the complete game effort. He allowed one unearned run on six hits. Curtis struck out eight and improved to 3-3.
GAME TWO
- UTS produced three runs on four hits. Camden Angell, Harris, Pope, and Wurtz all had hits in game two.
- Wurtz each had the lone extra bagger for UTS
- Holden, Pope, and Birdsong all swiped a bag.
- The Firehawks left seven on base.
- Drew Bailey took the loss moving to 1-3 on the year.
NEXT UP
UTS will host rival Bethel for the rubber game tomorrow at Bobby Walker Field. The first pitch Saturday is set for 1 pm.
