Firehawks Split Series with Bearcats

PULASKI, Tenn. – The University of Tennessee Southern baseball team fell short of a sweep against visiting Brescia tonight in a twin bill. UTS scored early and often in a 20-5 win in game one but stranded the tying and potential game-winning run in scoring position in a 12-11 loss in game two.

  • UTS produced 11 runs on 10 hits. Birdsong went three-for-four to pace the Firehawks. Wurtz added a pair of hits. Bowling, Blaine Harris, Pope, Wright, and Nick Davis each recorded a hit.
  • Pope and Wurtz each had long balls for UTS
  • Birdsong added a triple and a double. Bowling, Wurtz, and Huntley also had a two-bagger.
  • The Firehawks left eight on base.
  • Cody Womble took the loss moving to 0-2 on the year.

NEXT UP

UTS will host rival Bethel at Bobby Walker Field on Friday, April 15th to begin a three-game series. The first pitch Friday will begin at 6 pm.
